4 Types of Thai Chinese Chili Paste recipe
In Sri Lanka Chili Paste is kind of a popular dish and the way of making is different from thai or Chinese. Today i am going to list 4 types of different chili paste recipes for a different taste.
1) Garlic Chili Paste
This is a chinese chili paste variety. Suitable for the people who love garlic flavor. Whoever allergic to garlic can avoid this. Can be refrigerated for about a week.
- Chili Flakes or Chopped dried chili - 100g
- Oil - 3 Tbsp
- Full Garlic - 2
- Chopped Onion - 3
- Tomato Sauce - 2 Cup
- Sugar - 2 Tbsp
- Vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- Soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
1. Pour oil in a pan and once its hot put the chopped onion & chopped garlic & fry till it golden brown.
2. Add the tomato sauce & chili flakes and mix well.
3. Then add vinegar, sugar and soy sauce and mix well. reduce the flame well & keep it till it boiled.
4. On boil let it to be cool & then blend well.
2) Thai Nam Pla
This is a famous thai chili paste and very easy recipe. You can keep it for about a 2 weeks in an air tight container.
- Fish sauce - 5 Tbsp
- Lime Juice - 1/2 cup
- Dried chili 5 or equivalent chili flakes
- Small dried shrimps - 2 Tbsp ( Sit fried in oil & this is optional)
- Brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
- Garlic - 2 Cloves (Minced)
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix until thoroughly blended.
2. Store in airtight container up to two weeks.
3. Suitable for thai Fried rice, grilled meats, etc
3) Chinese Hot Chili Paste (La jiao jiang)
This is famous spicy chinese chili paste. Can be kept for about 3-5 days.
- Hot chili - 15
- Garlic - 2 Cloves minced
- Oil - 1 Tbsp
- Vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- Salt
1. Chopped the chilies in to very small pieces.
2. Pour oil in a pan and once its heat add all the above stated ingredients and stir well in low flame for about 10 minutes.
3. Once cooled down you can either blend it or use as it is.
4) Green Chili Paste
This can be kept for about a week in refrigerator.
- Green Chili - 100g
- Salt - As per taste
- Oil - 3 Tbsp
- Cinnamon - Small piece
- Lime Juice - 1 Tbsp
- Sugar - 2 Tbsp
1. Pour oil in a pan and once its heat add all the above stated ingredients and stir well in low flame.
2. Before chili change the color remove from heat.
